1953
Near the town of Lloydminster, in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada, there were some cattle derived from Shorthorn that exhibited the color pattern of the Park breed.
In 1953, Mary Lindsay of Lloydminster gathered some animals that exhibited the characteristic color pattern of the breed.

1958
In 1958, beef cattle breeders Bill and Eileen Lamont, of Maidstone, Saskatchewan (who at the time raised Angus cattle and Appaloosa horses), bought the first spotted cattle from Mary and started a breeding program with their purebred cattle. The Lamonts called the cattle Speckle Park - Speckle for the color pattern, and Park for the white pattern with black spots of the English cattle.
The resulting offspring came in a variety of color patterns, some white with black spots, some leopard-colored (spotted on the sides), and some with black sides with spotted hips. Other beef cattle breeders saw the animals in cattle markets fetching premium prices. Interest grew in this hardy cattle to the point where they began buying bulls and females from the Lamonts to try them out in their herds. In a few years, a dedicated group of breeders was now breeding Speckle Park cattle, mainly in the Neilburg area of northern Saskatchewan.

1985
In 1985, with the help and support of nine of these Saskatchewan cattle breeders, the Canadian Speckle Park Association was formed. The goal from there was to stabilize the breed and have them recognized as a purebred breed.
1993
On June 4, 1993, Agriculture Canada approved the incorporation of the Canadian Speckled Park Association and the Speckle Park was declared an “evolving” cattle breed.
Unlike most other countries, the Canadian Minister of Agriculture - and through the Animal Pedigree Act - insists that anyone attempting to start a new breed go through rigorous protocol procedures for the breed to be declared as a “distinct” breed. This occurs after the time period in which the breed is in the evolving breed status, all supervised by government authorities. Stabilizing breed characteristics and maintaining pedigrees are two important protocols that must be respected.

2006
On July 6, 2006, the Canadian Minister of Agriculture announced the Speckle Park breed as a “distinct” purebred breed - the first and only breed to be developed in Saskatchewan, Canada.
2007
In 2007, the Speckle Park breed was introduced to Australia by Speckle Park Cattle Co. They were introduced to New Zealand the same year when Lindsay Jones imported embryos from Canada.
2008
In 2008, Dale Humphries was a successful builder and breeder of a commercial cattle herd when he first saw a Speckle Park breed animal. Immediately Dale envisioned the possibility of creating a legacy with this breed, which despite being new in Australia, met all the requirements that breeders would like to have. At that moment Wattle Grove Speckle Park was born in the city of Oberon in New South Wales, Australia, with the purchase of 100 embryos and 20 live calves from Speckle Park Cattle Co, from breeders Gary and Nancy Kiziak, from Codiak Acres, Canada.
2018
After 10 years of working with the genetics of the Speckle Park breed in Australia, Wattle Grove has the possibility to offer the best breed genetics, adapted to the Australian climate. A smoother coat and a taller animal, capable of covering longer distances. And maintaining the qualities of meat, carcass consistency and the benefits of breed fertility.
2020
Wattle Grove Speckle Park sets a world record for the sale price of a purebred breed animal at an auction in Australia. The bull Paperboy reached the figure of 68,000 Australian dollars.
2021
Speckle Park Brazil starts its activities in Brazil with the import of the first doses of embryos and semen from the Speckle Park breed, in partnership with Wattle Grove. In the same year the breed registration was delegated by the Ministry of Agriculture of Brazil to the National Association of Herd-Book Collares Breeders (ANC). The delegation was authorized in January 2021 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa).
2022
Brazil records the birth of the first Speckle Park breed animals in the country in March 2022 at Fazenda São Luiz, in Santa Fé de Goiás. At the end of 2022, the first births of calves resulting from the cross between Speckle Park and the Nelore breed were registered.
2023
Speckle Park Brazil promotes the first Field Day at Fazenda Santa Fé de Goiás to present the purebred Speckle Park breed animals and the hybrid animals with Nelore. At the event, 18 purebred animals and 70 animals crossed with Nelore were presented.
In the same year, Speckle Park Brasil entered into a partnership with Alta Genetics Brasil for the sale of imported Speckle Park semen, with more than 5000 units sold to hundreds of farmers from North to South of the country.
